Makita recommends simply charging a brand new battery to a full charge before using it. The charge time for the batteries are as follows:
1.5ah = 15 mins, 2.0ah = 20 mins, 3.0ah = 30 mins, 4.0ah = 40 mins, 5.0ah = 45 mins, 6.0ah = 60 mins.
